The horticultural school at Valler, 1909 to 1917
Søndre Valler in Eidanger, photographed while Mikael Aamot's horticultural school stood here. The fruit trees along the road are newly planted and held up by stakes. The card's own printed line reads «Havsbruksskolen paa Valler ved Peregrund», misspelling Havebruksskolen and Porsgrund. The school closed in 1917, eleven years before Lasse Tynning bought the property. This is probably the oldest photograph we have of Søndre Valler.

Working the straw at Valler, 1924
Eleven men and a boy working the straw at Søndre Valler in 1924, four years before Lasse Tynning took over the farm. None of them is identified. Behind them stand the barn and the timber house, and behind the fence the plants of the market garden. This was the working property Lasse bought in 1928.
